Popular Hold Your Horses! Exhibition & Sale Returns to the Phippen Museum

Popular Hold Your Horses! Exhibition & Sale Returns to the Phippen Museum

The 4th annual Hold Your Horses!, invitational exhibition and sale, dedicated to the loyal and hard-working horse.he close relationship shared between horses and humans has dramatically changed both species over time. People have bred horses in an effort to make them faster, stronger, bigger or smaller. But horses have also changed humans. The ways we travel, trade, play, work and fight wars have all been profoundly shaped by our use of horses. In fact, this majestic animal has arguably had a greater impact on the evolution of human civilization than any other. And their powerful influence on mankind is just one of the many reasons the Phippen Museum presents its 4th annual Hold Your Horses!, invitational exhibition and sale, dedicated to the loyal and hard-working horse.

Scheduled from Saturday, August 5th through Sunday, September 24th, this inspirational presentation features artwork from thirty-two artists recognized for their outstanding art of the horse. Also represented is this year’s featured artist, Don Weller, the People’s Choice Award Winner from the 2016 event.

Weller captures the detailed beauty of the natural world of Western America, from hills of rock to wide, green ranch lands. He also specializes in animal subjects, especially the powerful beauty of horses, one of the West’s great symbols.

Other participating artists include: Kathy Q Anderson, Steve Atkinson, Phil Beck, Jerry Bingham, Teal Blake, Lynn Brown, Mary Ann Cherry, Karen Cooper, Sheila Cottrell, Steve Devenyns, Sheri Greves-Neilson, Tim Harmon, Steven Lang, Kim Mackey, Jan Mapes, Alvin Marshall, Kathy McCraine, Barbara Meikle, Krystii Melaine, Gerry Metz, Joe Netherwood, Bev Pettit, Sarah Phippen, Cynthia Rigden, Marlin Rotach, Linda St. Clair, Sherry Blanchard Stuart, Wei Tai, Michael Ome Untiedt, Kimbal Warren and K.W. Whitley.

So make plans now to join the Phippen Museum for this annual tribute to that constant companion of all mankind – the wonderful horse.
