Beautiful Night of Ballet – Taming of the Shrew

Beautiful Night of Ballet – Taming of the Shrew

One of the most beloved stories, The Taming of the Shrew is coming to Yavapai – Tuesday, February 16th, 2016 beginning at 6:00 PM.

The music is by Dmitri Shostakovich and the choreography byJean-Christophe Maillot. If you have ever seen the movie 10 Things About You (staring Heath Ledger, Julia Stiles and Joseph Gordon-Levitt) or read Shakespeare’s original, you will have the basic run down of the story. Many suitors dream of marrying the perfect sister Bianca. Her father has other ideas. He will not consent to letting Bianca marry until her older sister, the ill-tempered shrew Katharina, is married first.

French choreographer Jean-Christophe Maillot lands a coup with his adaptation of Shakespeare’s comedy tailored specifically to the Bolshoi dancers, and achieves a magnetic two hours of breathtaking, nonstop dance unlike any other, portraying the Bolshoi’s audacity and energy in a completely new way. This new production was staged exclusively for the Bolshoi and cannot be seen anywhere else!
