A Family Friendly Musical

If you are looking for something fun to do with the whole family, check out The Music Man, family entertainment at its best. Meredith Wilson’s six-time, Tony Award winning musical comedy has been entertaining audiences since 1957 and is a family-friendly story to be shared with every generation.

“The Music Man” follows fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill as he tricks the people of River City, Iowa into purchasing musical instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band he vows to create – even though he doesn’t know the difference between a banjo and a bass clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain’s fall.

Don’t miss this fun production, under the direction of Yavapai College Dean of Arts & Humanities Dr. Craig Ralston.

From her uncompromising book, winner of the National Book Award for Non-Fiction 2012, David Hare has fashioned a tumultuous play on an epic scale with design from Tony Award winner Katrina Lindsay.

India is surging with global ambition. But beyond the luxury hotels surrounding Mumbai airport lies a makeshift slum, full of people with plans of their own. Zehrunisa and her son Abdul aim to recycle enough rubbish to fund a proper house. Sunil, twelve and stunted, wants to eat until he is as tall as Kalu the thief. Asha seeks to steal government anti-poverty funds to turn herself into a “first-class person,” while her daughter Manju intends to become the slums first female graduate.
